Amazon’s new plans for Poland
By the end of 2016, Amazon wants to create over a thousand jobs in Poland. As of today, there are over 4.5 thousand people employed full time. Meanwhile, in Europe the company wants to employ several thousand.
Amazon Poland’s spokesperson informed that new employees will be able to find work in logistics centres in such cities as Poznań, Warsaw, Gdańsk and Wrocław. The majority of the new posts will be in higher positions and will require proper qualifications.
At the end of the year the number of people employed at Amazon Polska is to be 5.5 thousand. In Europe, Amazon employs around 40 thousand permanent staff. Last year, the corporation created around 10 thousand job positions in the European market.
According to the company’s investment plan, 2016 entails among other things expanding European logistics, new infrastructure for the purpose of operations and R&D. Amazon plans to hire not only people with higher qualifications but people of various experience and education.
In 2014 Amazon opened two logistics centres in Poland, one in Bielany Wrocławskie, and the other in Sady nearby Poznań. Up until now, the investment reached around 2 billion PLN. In December 2015 the company informed Polish Press Agency (PAP) that they plan to further develop the logistics centre network on the continent and in Poland. As for now, no further details have been revealed.
Since 2010, Amazon has invested over 15 billion euro in Europe. Amazon is an American company seated in Seattle, which is the biggest online retailer in the world. It operates since 1994 and is a one of the internet sales leaders.
Presently, Amazon has 109 logistics centres around the world, 29 of which in Europe alone. Since 2013 Amazon has also been an online bidding platform.
