Once again, the Swiss town of Davos became a meeting point for world leaders, esteemed economic experts, and all those interested in how the economy shapes the modern world and how global events affect the economic environment. The World Economic Forum foundation has been organising those annual meetings since the early 1970s. Today, the event hosts over 2,500 participants from all over the world. Thee 2018 Davos summit, taking place from 23 to 26 January, is held under the theme “Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World”.

The Swiss economic summit is invitation-only. This year, among the many renowned guests, were the President of Poland Andrzej Duda and the Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki. The two top Polish politicians took the occasion to promote Poland and grab the attention of investors who may be interested in moving their operations to the biggest country in central and eastern Europe.

Promoting the continually growing potential of the Polish economy is one of the priorities of my presidential term – said Andrzej Duda. Polish delegation organised a meeting with big international corporations and potential investors. Polish President and Prime Ministers also attended a dinner hosted by Google. Mateusz Morawiecki was a speaker at one of the panels dedicated to EU integration and the future of the European Community.

The event was also attended by representatives of Bank Pekao, the biggest Polish bank which since last year has been in the hands of the state. The financial institution is planning opening branches outside the territory of the country and offer world-class services to international companies.

The programme of 2018 Davos summit includes such topics as the impact of digital technology, the fourth industrial revolution, the crypto-currency bubble, cyberwar and migration. Among the most anticipated highlights is an address of the President of the United States Donald Trump.
