Samsung Electronics, a South Korean electronics company, opened a lab for Polish start-ups. Samsung Incubator area is located in Rzeszów, the largest city of the Subcarpathian (podkarpackie) voivodship, within the premises of the Rzeszów University of Technology.

The place will offer support, advice, and tools for young entrepreneurs interested in developing innovations in the field of the Internet of Things. These include ideas connected with wearable technology and smart home solutions. Polish innovators will be offered not only expert knowledge and experience but also access to workstations, digital whiteboards and other equipment. Visitors will also have the opportunity to test out Samsung Electronics’ own IoT products.

Samsung Incubator welcomes both individuals and teams who already have a prototype of their invention or thought-out idea for a business. Although the incubator is situated in the south-east of Poland, the support programme is offered to everyone across the country. The incubation lasts three months. There are already three companies involved in the programme, and three more spots are available in an open recruitment process. Participants will learn how to choose the right business model, find investors, and develop their products.

The incubation area was created in cooperation with Rzeszów University of Technology and Aviation Valley, an aviation industry association gathering over a hundred companies from the area around Rzeszów.

Hadrian Baumann, CEO of Samsung Electronics in Poland, said that the creation of the start-up incubator is another step towards increasing engagement in the digitisation of Poland. “The knowledge of our engineer’s business experience will help Polish innovators create ideal products and solutions with global potential” – he said.

Among the guests participating in the launch event was Deputy Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. “I’m very glad Samsung is in Poland not only to distribute their products but they are also building the country’s technological future” – he said.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. is the world’s second largest IT company present in 80 countries across the globe. In Poland, the Korean company has already opened an R&D centre and a factory.
