The long-anticipated reshuffle of the government of Mateusz Morawiecki has finally taken place. On Tuesday, the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, upon the request of the Prime Minister, officially appointed the new heads of several government ministries. The names of the new ministers were kept confidential until the very last moment. The reshuffle is quite substantial. The Ministers of Health, Defence, Foreign Affairs, Digitisation and Environment were among those who had to leave their positions.

Jacek Czaputowicz became the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, while Łukasz Szumowski took the position of Minister of Health. Mariusz Błaszczak, who until now was in charge of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, will now head the Ministry of Defence. He himself will be replaced by Joachim Brudziński. Henryk Kowalczyk will be the new Minister of Environment. Another person who lost their position is the Minister of Digital Affairs Anna Streżyńska. Her dismissal came as a surprise and no one was appointed in her place. For now, the issues she was in charge of will be handled by the Prime Minister. We are to learn the name of the new Minister of Digital Affairs in the future.

Mateusz Morawiecki used to be in position of the Minister of Finance and Ministry of Development. Now, state finances will be in the hands of Teresa Czerwińska. The Ministry of Development will become the Ministry of Investment and Development and be supervised by Jerzy Kwieciński. Prime Minister Morawiecki decided to create a new government entity: The Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Technologies, chaired by Jacek Czaputowicz.

President Duda profusely thanked all former Ministers for their work and congratulated their successors. Mateusz Morawiecki called his cabinet “a government of great modernization”. Morawiecki and his team have already had their first meeting during which they discussed bills on such issues as employment of disabled persons and payment services.
