Poland and Ukraine to Create a Common Transit Zone

Poland and Ukraine

The first round of negotiations on a common transit zone between Poland and Ukraine is a more serious step than it might seem at first glance – Ukrainian companies will have to consider pan-European norms and, most likely, revise legislative tolerances.

The Trade Between Poland and Ukraine:

A similar practice already exists on the common border between Ukraine and Moldova. However, if we are talking about the Polish side, we should understand that Poland represents the European Union in this situation.

“The simplified conditions of transit between the two states will accelerate the exchange of information between the control services of the neighboring countries and make it possible to conduct joint patrols. And in the future – the performance of official powers and functions will be distributed between the control services of both states” – as the company ZAMMLER representatives explain.

Also, the company noted that general procedures and rules for the operation of common checkpoints will be established. This raises the customs base of Poland and Ukraine and the quality of processes to international standards.

According to ZAMMLER, this step is more serious than it seems at first glance – Ukrainian companies will have to take into account all European standards and, probably, revise the legal tolerance.

Last week, the delegations of the Republic of Ukraine and the Republic of Poland met in Warsaw to discuss the draft intergovernmental agreement on the joint control of persons, vehicles and goods at common checkpoints.
