The Polish Parliament is Debating Whether to Allow Haggling on Sundays

The Polish Parliament is debating whether to allow Sunday trading or not.

Since 2018, trade in Poland has been banned for several weeks, however, according to experts, at the request of consumers, this regulation should be revised.

At the beginning of 2024, a bill was presented to the parliament, easing these restrictions. Employees had to work only twice a month on Sundays. However, traders are required to have the opportunity to rest every week.

“I am in favor of not allowing trading on Sundays. Don’t bother yourself, the employees who are employed, and we have to have them by that time, and if everything opens on Sundays, then we won’t have the opportunity. I work from four in the morning. I’m just taking a day off. However, some Sundays I have to go out to bring goods”, says one of the entrepreneurs.

Several draft laws provide for the definition of working hours on Sundays and doubling of wages. In the Association of Employers in the Polish Trade and Business Sector, they say that the working hours of the establishment on Sundays should be reduced. The society is also considering one thing, to allow the employees to rest one day on another day.
